I submitted a patch which allows us to use recaptcha's ajax API. This was the only way I could get it to work in a LOAD component. It may solve other problems. You add ajax=True to the Recaptcha constructor. It's not in trunk yet. The related issue is http://code.google.com/p/web2py/issues/detail?id=1888
