I find bottle to be small and very well written. Flask started as an April's fool joke and the name was supposed to make fun on Bottle. Flask sells itself as a micro-framework but it has a very large code based given the functionality it provides.
If bottle existed when web2py started, I would have used it. We currently use piece from bottle in anyserver.py.
