I can only get my grid field the width the width I want them in a SQLFORM.grid by padding the headers w/non blank chars. I have tried using maxtextlengths dictionary & maxtextlength to set all. Neither seems to have any effect. I also removed my layout but the fields widths stayed the same. I am stuck and would appreciate any help anybody can give me on this.
