imho, taking advantage of courses in college to broaden and deepen your understanding of computer science (and areas outside computer science) is very worthwhile.
it's hard to predict where your career will lead and what "web development" will be in 5, 10, 15, years and beyond. "web development" at Twitter is also a very different experience than "web development" for a startup.
