perhaps you can use python subprocess, but it's not thread safe
*e.g.*
*static/scripts/test.sh*
#!/bin/sh
nohup python web2py.py -S VideoTest -M -R
applications/VideoTest/modules/video_to_flv.py

*controllers/default.py*
import subprocess
def test():
command = "applications/VideoTest/static/scripts/test.sh"
process = subprocess.Popen(command, stdout = subprocess.PIPE, stderr =
subprocess.PIPE)
output, err = process.communicate()

best regards,
stifan
