Is this in a Cordova/Phonegap app? If so, you may need to whitelist the 
web2py URL and set a content security policy. See 
https://cordova.apache.org/docs/en/latest/reference/cordova-plugin-whitelist/.

Otherwise, if it is a cross-origin request, you need to set up CORS to 
allow it.
