EDIT:
I found something like this 

controller.py

def my_function():
    my_dict = dict()
    return response.render('my_view.html, my_dict) 


my_view.html

<div id="f2"></div>
<script>
  jQuery(document).ready(function(){ 
       ajax('{{=URL('my_function')}}',[],'f2'); 
  }); 
</script>

Although this just basically put my entire page into the f2 div and 
inserted no dict... Where did I go wrong?
