Yes - using tags for releases in both the mirror (svn) and the main
repo (launchpad/bazaar) would be incredibly useful.
Not sure why this has never been done; I think Massimo just doesn't
know how

It has a menu item:  Bazaar => Collaborate => Tag
which will tag a checkin.
The command line  "bzr help tag" shows how to do this from the command
line,
but the tools (annotation, etc.) in explorer are nice.
