This is closer to have I have in mind.... It should definitively not focus on the course. If should not focus specifially on the learner. It should focus on the user (whether a student, faculty or an administrator) because the same person may have different roles. Whatever the user and its roles, he user has tasks completed, tasks to complete and documents. The user roles should only serve the purpose of filtering tasks and documents. Documents here have a broad sense they could be wiki pages, quizzes, assignments, gradebooks, etc. Only presentation changes, not permissions.
