it seems something has to be done about the internationalization, but i think this solution is definitely a step in the right direction. as i posted earlier (https://groups.google.com/d/topic/web2py/HTBuheF-xzs/discussion), this is a big problem in safari and chrome, and leads to a bad user experience. so i think we need to change this one way or another. thanks to kevin for getting the process started.
