That is a good question.  I don't think that the GPL is suitable for
documentation, however there is a GNU documentation license which seems
more appropriate.  You can direct them to an Italian translation of it
at:
   - http://fly.cnuce.cnr.it/gnu/doc.it/fdl.it.html

I will update the english website (I assume that none of the
documentation translators would object to this).  Translators should
point to a version of the translation in their language (find links at
http://www.gnu.org/copyleft/copyleft.html#translationsGFDL).
