Hello! I am now a happy person with a webcam working with the latest version of macam. Here are the specifics. Maker: COSY (http://www.cosy.co.kr/) Model: Omni PC Camera CPC300 (http://www.cosy.co.kr/bemarket/shop/index.php?pageurl=page_goodsdetail&uid=462) Chipset: Z-Star Corp. ZC0301b Product ID: 0x301b Vendor ID: 0x0ac8 Status: Camera is recognized and functions with good frame rates and have most controls working macam version: 0.8.7+ CVS build 2006-07-26 OS: Mac OS X 10.4.7 for Intel Mac: Mac mini Core Duo 1.66GHz I noticed that ZC030x chipsets were now supported, and it was relatively easy to get ahold of a webcam supporting this class of chipsets in Korea. In fact, the current list at macam site had Savit Micro's VIJE Talk, which uses ZC0302 chipset, marked as unsupported and since this is still relatively popular model I was planning to buy one to test out to see if 0.8.7 version worked. But then I noted that one of the webcams I bought for my parents was this CPC300 webcam, and a quick check into the Windows driver inf file revealed that it was using a ZC030x class chipset. So I brought that one home (gave them my Sony Eye Toy webcam, which I waited for macam support for months, without fruition) and did a test run. And here I am. BTW, the list still shows Logitech QuickCam Communicate STX as not supported, although it's using a ZC0302 chipset and is mentioned in the CVS build release note, implying that it works now. Is the list simply not updated yet? Wesley Hwang-Chung Tool-Box.info |
