Hi, 

Then you have installed it. 
Verify that your setup works by running the macam application, 
this is a good way to test your computer/camera/USB connection. 
The macam application does need the component to be installed.

If macam works, then Skype should work as well. 
Another way to test the component is to use HackTVCarbon.

folder in the library.
