expect to see more traffic and prices shooting up all week. This one is
getting started. Don't miss it. Get on GPSI first thing Tuesday!

I am out there to challenge myself and see what I can do and the clock
comes into account if there is a cutoff involved.
While he was doing that I pulled out the kayak paddles and assembled the
pieces anticipating the next CP just up-river. At narrow points we
squeeze through boulders the size of a house. She said she could hear
and feel the tendons or whatever letting go as she went down. We have
all been there at one time or another and deal with it in our own way.
This is going to happen a lot, I can tell.
You have had worse races for sure. Even one year later, we were missing
her presence every day. We split the Bike Leg into two sections. OMG we
thought and then put it out of our minds.
OMG we thought and then put it out of our minds. The rub is that the
descent was a nightmare thanks to the prolific Rhodos, steep pitch and
muddy soil underfoot.
Congratulations to a great team!
The trail got a bit rocky at the top, and I started losing it mentally.
Even though I can't hear anything I find myself getting sucked into the
story line, making up my own script as I go along.
We are above all finishers.
Then we have a long uphill to get to about the middle of the Baja
Peninsular. Almost half our race to this point has been in the canyon.
This was an awesome race for beginner or experienced racer alike. We
usually miss this part of a race, since we are typically back of the
pack finishers, but always finishers.
they actually sent Ashley "GoLite" Wallace to the race to help out and
talk to the racers about their products.
We were all feeling strong and headed for the challenges. Some chose to
attack the points in a counter-clockwise loop while others did just the
opposite. A short way later we all split up electing alternate routes to
the next checkpoint.
We picked up the last OCP and headed for the finish line.
That rope comes in very handy for another team when we come upon them
with one member stranded on some slick rock looking down a horrible fall
spot.
Top Coed winners were Eastern Mountain Sports, Cogg Wild, and Berlin
Bike. On the map it looks straightforward.
I am out there to challenge myself and see what I can do and the clock
comes into account if there is a cutoff involved. Prior to starting the
race we had dotted out a route for the trek. We just put heads down,
concentrate and paddle.
They are aiming for about our location so we use their route and walk
directly to the kayaks at the Sea of Cortez. The challenge it turns out
was in route choice, with teams evenly divided as to the best strategy.
This is due in no small part to the tremendous support provide by a long
list of enthusiastic sponsors like myTopo. share your race experiences
today! One team had a boat on the rocks, they were safe on the beach
contemplating their options.
Instead of cruising downhill, riders were forced to stand on their
pedals and navigate a rocky, washed out road from top to bottom. We
could see the power plant off in the distance but it seemed a long way
away.
I have to say a HUGE thank you to the volunteers for this one. You are a
small group and we know that, which makes your individual contributions
very big as we saw you all over the course. I was lucky when one landed
right next to my hand and I grabbed it and got the heck out of that
water. But back to the story.
The bottom was sandy and resulted in a shoe full of sand each time you
hopped out of the canoe.
A double cheeseburger really doesn't sound all that bad at the moment.
We follow that until we summit the ridge as dawn comes up.
Didn't you want some new shoes? We usually miss this part of a race,
since we are typically back of the pack finishers, but always finishers.
When we received our passport, we would then know what order we would do
the different sections. One week later Lisa and I were playing on a
wallyball league and during the third game of the match, Lisa came down
wrong on her left foot and twisted it badly. A trip to the emergency
room revealed that it was most likely a bad sprain and time would be
needed to get it back into shape.
That Sunday dawned perfect.
Even then I fall asleep in the surf ski and am abruptly woken up when I
tip out and get wet. Yes, I was sore the next morning, but it was a good
sore, the kind I like. We have our best transition of the race as the
workers are nice enough to portage our boats to the water. I thought our
racing chances had evaporated, but was hoping I was wrong. The family
had all gotten together in memory of Esther, who had passed away one
year ago after a battle with cancer.
