Your idea is interesting, but it can't really be defined using font- size. It's more of an "after-the-fact" adjiustment based off the calculated width of a block.
So let me rephase the question. Do you think the effect I'm trying to achieve should be specified via CSS or Javascript? If the former, do you have any suggestions on how?
