GObject can be used from any number of languages (there's bindings for Perl, Python, JavaScript, various flavors of Lisp, Java, C++, ...), so the existing bindings should be more than enough for your needs in principle. Seems like a better strategy than re-writing the binding layer once per layer, but YMMV.
