(re-sending, forgot to Reply-All :/) Having a look at how this is used in JS (see https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/NodeFilter) it seems clear we just failed to properly bind the NodeFilter functionality. So I think the answer at the moment is "you probably cannot use it". File a bug about it and we can try to figure out how to fix it.
