npn_invoke returned 0.

The func() is a java script function which receives the string (in this case -
"Hello from wcfplugin......") passed to it from the plugin-in
and display in an alert.
Just to make sure that the JavaScript code is correct, I have changed
"document" to "content" and ran it on firefox.
I am getting an alert with - "Hello from wcfplugin......"

Why do you think so? Did npn_invoke returned false? Where did you expect the
string to appear? Maybe it's a javascript function that is incorrect.

I tried using : id = npnfuncs->getstringidentifier("document"); in GtkLauncher

Although this time there was no segmentation fault, but the string "Hello from
wcfplugin......" did not print either.
It seems "func" is not found.

You should also check the return value of NPN functions.

It's not correct. It's non standard.

As you can see here: https://developer.mozilla.org/en/DOM/window.content
it is not part of any W3C specification.

Available window object properties are:
http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/obj_window.asp

I think you should try window.document
