Hi Loïc, as far as I know, .desktop file is generated from an .in file which is transformed into po file using intltool. The process works well and is widely used. https://freedesktop.org/wiki/Software/intltool/ Please also think about translating appdata file in order to provide a good user experience in gnome software (and others).
