It's a bug/missing feature. See this ticket: http://weblocks.lighthouseapp.com/projects/18897/tickets/66-dropdown-doesnt-allow-nil-as-choice The presentation protocol (render-view-field-value) needs to be extended with another parameter specifying whether VALUE was given or not. Would you like to fix this? I don't think it's particularly hard, you just need to change every occurence of RENDER-VIEW-FIELD-VALUE to have the new signature and semantics.
