I used the profiler extensively some years ago and it worked great.

Right now I get all kinds of strange application behavior (waiting
forever for a web page to load or getting half a page in return) along
with SBCL crashes or empty reports when I try to use it.

This is a problem, because I am about to deploy an application and there
are performance issues, which I am unable to track down :-/

I will. Problem is, I don't have enough time to prepare proper bug
reports.
