Yep. That was my hope with this email. Thus I'd appreciate any other
feedback, comments, objections, etc. It's not a trivial issue, so more
brains are better.

Somewhat, but not enough to be able to come up with concrete code yet.
I think the first step would be to implement something equivalent to
CL-WHO using the JS backend, plus integration with the whole
parenscript machinery to get it to double-compile. It shouldn't be
terribly difficult to do, given JS's native HTML integration, but I'll
want to look into Mackram's work on the abstract JS API before
attacking it.
Once that is in place, it should be enough of an initial mudball to
give us a better idea about the capabilities and possible extension
points of such a model.

That's a good question. I'm not sure if the data renderer approach is
viable in such case; it might fall under #5 above, ie. well-defined
extension points. But I don't know how to provide that yet.
