An approach to get filtering working across multiple datastore- backends has not been decided upon. Meanwhile, you can check out the approach by Fremlin here [http:// groups.google.com/group/weblocks/msg/ea919f49de7554cc]. The limitations are that it only filters based on the what is visible in the grid (technically, what is specified in the defview for the grid).
