Do the header and footer need to be widgets? (iow, how dynamic do they need to be?) In any case, you have many options here! Check out render-page for the most control, or use render-header or render-page-body.. and of course, you have :before and :after methods. All these are best imho for more static content. Now we will start thinking of making widgets each for each block: > Header widget, Menu widget etc. > If they're dynamic, use a composite with these widgets as children. > How can we create empty widgets which will fill out their designated > spaces? > Ah, the $10,000 webdev question. :-) I would strongly suggest using something like YUI Grids CSS or google "CSS grid layout" -- never use floats if you can avoid it, that way lies madness. Otherwise you could specify the css inline, I personally prefer writing say :style "width:600px" etc. in the render-widget-body. > I mean what's the steps involved in first making an empty page layout > (with empy widgets)? Is it completely on the CSS side? > Pretty much, yes. Weblocks side you just use a composite with 3 widgets. > Then, when we are satisfied with the layout we may start filling out > the widgets with content. > > Or, write the app, and worry about CSS later.
