| Hi all, I'm having a really mysterious problem on a FreeBSD server. The server is one of those "Virtual Server" kind. Let's say a "slice" of a real server. If has limited resources, but the rest is totally regular. I compiled a jdk1.3.1 on it (can't put 1.4 as the FreeBSD version is too old) and installed webobjects regularly. I also upgraded WO to 5.2.1 as it looks like that's the last one to work with java 1.3.1. Now what happens... If I start a WO application (talking of direct connect here... not even arrived to the adaptor part) from the command line, it looks perfect. Nice startup, all the correct class paths and finally "Waiting for requests..."... but that's all I get. If I try to browse to the address (using Safari in this case) I get a: Safari can’t open the page “http://mydomain.com:55555/”. The error was: “lost network connection” (NSURLErrorDomain:-1005) Please choose Report Bug to Apple from the Safari menu, note the error number, and describe what you did before you saw this message. The thing is that if I stop the app, the error is: Safari can’t open the page “http://mydomain.com:55555/” because it could not connect to the server mydomain.com”. This makes me think that the app is somehow interacting with the external environment. The mysterious part is that, on the internal side, the app shows no sign of any form of activity. Nothing at all. I've added a logging line to check if at least the app gets called, but no. Not even that. Let me tell you that in the past I had already done this... and it worked great. I had used a different jdk (was a diablo jdk that time while this time it's a regular one). I can't get the diablo thing so I was almost giving up when I found out something more. wotaskd... that thing works. I've stopped everything and launched wotaskd on port 55555 as my other app and immediately puff... I get the siteconfig stuff in my browser. Now what? It's my apps fault then? It's a stupid "Hello World" app I've made just to test this thing... there's no big logic into it... only the Main.wo with a hello world text in it. I did also compile my app with the 1.3.1 compiler just to make sure. Did anybody experience anything similar? Or at least... can anybody suggest me a way to track down where the problem is? I'm getting no errors, no hints, nothing... Hoping for some help... regards, Riccardo De Menna |
