Hello all!
This is my first post to this list. I've been deploying WO-apps for
the last four years on Jaguar Server and later, and have never
encountered a problem until recently.
The trouble I'm having at the moment is with a newly set-up dual-G5
Xserve (booting from internal hw-RAID). On this box, I installed OSXS
10.4.3 (w/ standard WO-Deployment 5.2.4), Xcode 2.0, Java 1.4.2
Update 2, FrontBase 4.2.4, OSXS 10.4.6 Combo Update and finally the
WO-Apps needed. Here's a list of the problems I'm facing with this box:
- When setting up the host in JavaMon, I need to use the host's IP.
When I use the FQDN, WO lists the IP as 127.0.0.1. Some lookupd-issue?
- During initial setup and configuration of the apps, everything
works well (1 instance is configured per app).
- After re-boot, the apps don't start, even if I try to start them
manually in JavaMon
- The only way I can get the apps to run ist to stop and start the WO-
service after a reboot.
I tried trashing the WO-config and re-configured the host and apps
numerous times, synchronized the host in JavaMon, trashed the lookupd
cache, re-installed the apps - but to no avail. I have another Xserve
(single-G5 w/o hw-RAID) running the same apps under the exact same sw-
config w/o any issues. The only difference in sw-configuration
between the two boxes is that the troublesome one had both Ethernet
interfaces enabled during initial OS and WO setup. I remember there
was a problem with multihoming back in the WO 5.1/Jaguar Server days,
but this has since been resolved, IIRC. Anyway, I have since disabled
the second Ethernet interface on the dual, so it shouldn't be an
issue any longer.
Any ideas?
TIA,
Ron
