We are running our deployments on Solaris, so I don't know about that.
But what we do (which would work on Linux as well ), is to write a
wrapper script around the application's script. This gives us the
flexibility to export whatever environment variables we want in the
wrapper script. By doing it this way, we have control over what
NEXT-ROOT, PATH, etc is set to which has come in handy.
