I know, the same should apply to us, but we have some strange issue
where the server restarts itself (or is restarted) as a result of a
load of Java processes starting together. When the server is
restarted, the apps don't start properly and this means our sites are
down until someone restarts them (could be the next morning). I
really need to resolve this but can't figure out how.

solution, and it hasn't worked for us either. We rarely have to
reboot a WO sever. But, when we do, we always monitor it to see
that the apps start up. If they don't, we simply stop/start the
WebObjects service in Server Admin.

I thought my solution was definitive! :-) See the thread titled
"Security
Update 006-2007". Just edit
/System/Library/WebObjects/JavaApplications/wotaskd.woa/wotaskd
and add a
"sleep 5" (no quotes) up near the top. Haven't heard one
complaint about
that solution yet.
