Is the the problem that Cliff posted a fix for? The new machines are
so fast that WO starts before the network interfaces are initialized
leading to its failure. Cliff's solution was to put a sleep in the
startup script for WO.

We noticed that after rebooting the intel xserves, you get the
"Cannot find the specified application", when attempting to
connect to the woapp...and looking at the lists of hosts, it says
the IP address is "unspecified". DNS is DEFINITELY working
correctly...doesn't affect ant other network services except this.
So, we remove the hosts, re-add...then viola! Works fine....
And, the PowerPC Xserves are configured identically, but have no
such issue...
I can't explain why a different CPU architecture would cause this
problem. The host list is stored in /Library/WebObjects/
Configuration/SiteConfig.xml, by default. If SiteConfig.xml and /
Library/WebObjects/Configuration aren't readable and writable by
the appserver user, host info won't be stored which will cause it
to be lost upon a reboot. So the ownership and permissions of this
directory and file are the first thing that I would check.
