Two options :
- External autofailover/load balancing service. Let's say both
servers are accessible from the outside world and are running Apache/
wotaskd. An external service like TZO's AutoFailOver (which we use)
can do the load balancing and failover. In the case of AutoFailOver,
the failover is done by changing the IP address of the site to only
the running server. It will check a specific URL to determine if the
server is up or down.
- Gear like a Foundry switch. In this setup, the switch will simply
replace the external service. I used Foundry switches in the past, but
it was for load balancining SMTP and POP3 servers, never tried them in
a HTTP context.
Hello,
How could I achieve load balance and failover of an application
between two servers each has its own ip-address? The offcial
document is not sufficient and not covering such configuration
across many machines. Are there any detailed documents or
information about that. I really appreciate any help.
