As explained at WOWODC East, you can use Nagios and the Wonder variant
of JavaMonitor to monitor instances and applications. I just did that,
with :
check_http -I server.domain.com --url "/cgi-bin/WebObjects/
JavaMonitor.woa/admin/running?type=app&name=AppName&pw=XXXX" -p 3000 --
string YES
If the app is down, Nagios will raise an alert because the returned
string will be "NO" instead of "YES". And don't forget the quotes for
the URL, or else the ampersands will confuse the plugin.
