Greetings -

I am grateful for Gavin's response yesterday evening, but am having no success with my OS X Server's Open Directory and accessing it from EOModeler. The Open Directory exists with dc=tomwinans,dc=local as its base context. The Directory Administrator is defined and able to log in to Workgroup Manager and applications it should be able to log in to. Here is what I try:

(1) Create an EOModeler Model against the Open Directory. I choose authentication = None, and url = ldap://tomwinans.local:389. I successfully get to the next panel where LDAP classes are presented for inclusion into the model. All are selected.

Scenario 1:
(2) I select all ... I get the following exception: "Cannot lookup AttributeDefinition/subtreeSpecification: javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: subtreeSpecification"

Scenario 2:
(3) I select the person class and successfully progress through the model creation. (4) I select Tools/Data Browser after having selected Person entity in the model and I get the following exception:

JNDIAdaptorException: Cannot search (&(objectClass=person)): javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: [LDAP: error code 32 - No Such Object]; remaining name ''
Stack Trace:
JNDIAdaptorException: Cannot search (&(objectClass=person)): javax.naming.NameNotFoundException: [LDAP: error code 32 - No Such Object]; remaining name ''

I can do an "ldapsearch -x -b 'dc=tomwinans,dc=local' '(objectclass=person)'" and get appropriate results.

Can anyone offer this neophyte some guidance?

Thanks,

Tom Winans
