Ooo, that's a low blow. Windows just makes me feel sullied :-) I am proud to say the only generic PC I own is running Linux and powers my PVR. Every other machine in my home and business is a Mac.
Seriously, for all the good natured ribbing that goes back and forth, I, like Chuck and David, believe that Eclipse is currently a better platform for pure Java development. It is, after all, created in Java expressly for Java development. But WebObjects is not pure Java development. It includes WOComponents and EOModels.The Apple tools (Xcode, EOModeler/Xcode's EOModeling capabilities, and WOBuilder) form a powerful combination, providing visual construction capabilities to the visual elements of your project. They're getting better, but Apple still seems unwilling to provide the commitment to professional WO developers that would make me comfortable. Until they do, you are well advised to seek to understand the underpinnings of these tools for the day that we may all have to move to some open source solution. That is, learn what the .wod file does and how the various elements of the WOComponent interact. Be able to deal with them at the raw text level if you need to. Learn how EOModeler uses property lists, so if you have to edit them some day in Eclipse, you'll know how to do it.
Just to be clear, gaining the benefit of using WebObjects Builder and EOModeler does not preclude the use of a different IDE.
I use Xcode extensively - for Cocoa and AppleScript Studio - but when it comes to WebObjects I just cannot beat the increased productivity I gain from using WOLips/Eclipse. The current versions of WOLips/ Eclipse works fine with WOBuilder and EOModeler, so I give up nothing in the way of GUI tools and gain a massive increase in coding productivity (without the joys of Targets and Indexes :-).
