I think that we will have to wait until Thursday and Friday's WO sessions to be certain - and then not be able to talk about it due to the WWDC NDA. However, the message is clear: Apple has desktop (Carbon/Cocoa) and non-desktop (choose your poison .. WO RoR .. PHP ..). WO is clearly non-desktop and Java so let it all be java and get rid of that bastardized code that they have been dragging around for the last half decade+ ie. the Obj-C/Java bridge. I think that the WOlips team has done some great work and most WO developers use it with Eclipse. Apple, I think, sees the rest of the tool set moving over to Eclipse or other open tools. Short of opening the whole code, making it free and letting us use our tools of choice (from vi / emacs to home grown or commercial Eclipse plug-in) seems like a good strategy to me.
