| Carter, This seems to be a complicated solution for a simple problem. Is there a problem with using the build-in "max length" for an HTML form field. Then just use a standard number formatter to properly format into a number? In any case, I would avoid performing validation in a formatter. It seems to me to be two separate issues. I would add a validator for the field in the model. This, after all, is part of the model's responsibility (based on my understanding of the model layer of MVC).
