That idea works for me.
Think there's some developers just looking for a non-web app solution.

Personally, I think JavaClient is awesome, but I think it would make more sense for the community to develop something based on the concepts of JavaClient, without JavaClient per se, but leveraging WO and EOF.

This would give the community control of how it works and how it gets fixed, and would remove a lot of the hocus pocus (to me anyway) of how JC works. While I don't have the time to volunteer for something like this, I would love to see it happen...

Hi Garry,

Since you and a few more people are interested, I will make it. At the moment I am too busy to put much time into it, but that should change in a week or two.

I have two questions still:

1. How and where to most effectively lobby for JC future with Apple, or at least for an answer??? There seems to be enough interest for it for some of us to work together in documenting this and exchanging info, techniques and code, but we NEED TO KNOW (hint to Apple people) is there any point in it?

2. To all WO users, not only JC, shall we make this effort a part of some big WO site? I must admit I am not sure what sort of consensus was reached on centralizing resources. Or do we start another standalone thing? If not, with whom should we coordinate this?

Best regards,
Florijan

Hi Flor,

I'd be interested to read if you should ever put up your "Starting custom JC with WO guide".
I'm sure if its out there, more will come.

Thanks

Hans,

I am glad to hear there are more people thinking in this direction,
and seeing that web apps (AJAXed or not) are not the solution to
everything. To be honest, I get somewhat sick of all the AJAX hype.
But hey, to each his own.

As for helping you out, I would not mind at all. I am just wondering
at the moment if I should invest some time into trying to put
together some sort of "Starting custom JC with WO guide". If there
are interested people, please drop me a note. Until now I have only
had contact with people on an individual basis, but if the interest
grows, I would be happy to contribute in building up a community
(both by contributing docs and code). If the interest is low, well, I
will stick to individual contacts.

Best regards,
Flor
