The Ant build that ships with WOLips is, IMO, a terrible mess.

Some time ago, I headed down a path I wondered if I'd regret, which was redoing the WO ant tasks. It would mean maintaining my own copy, etc, etc, but it was a better fit to the way I like things.

You are referring to the tasks in woproject.jar, not the build.xml files? I think the Ant tasks are great, it is the build.xml that I have some grumbles with.

It has a few features I like:

... no dependence on the wonder ant tasks, or any non-core tasks .. so I could send it to someone who didn't have wonder.jar and it would still work. That makes it complicated.

wonder.jar? Ant tasks in Wonder? Where?

... same build.xml for frameworks and applications .. so I only have to maintain one file. That makes it complicated

... senses WO 5.3 or WO 5.4 and adjusts the build process to match .. not quite finished yet, and makes it complicated.

The result is complicated (did I already say that) mostly because conditional actions in Ant tend to be tricky

Amen to that!

and results in a lot of repetition, and I'm actually not completely convinced it was worth the effort. It's a work in progress (mainly the WO 5.4 parts), and I've borrowed heavily from others' work, but I would be happy to show it to anyone thinking along the same lines, if it might be helpful (I'm not promoting this work, but am happy to share) ..
