"Head First: Design Patterns" is a good book. It's not WO specific
but the ideas and lessons it gives can be directly applied to WO
application design. It's well written and easy to read. It also
contains a lot of good material that they just don't, sadly, teach in
college (at least not as a requirement).

I also recommend the companion book "Head First: Object-Oriented
Analysis & Design"
