Are you on Leopard (10.5.2 or later) with a NVidia video card and an external monitor by any chance?

my first attempt to "save" my .html / wod file today and i'm watching the beach ball spin...

i am not launching with launchd. i thought this was something eclipse did. i don't have any launchd configs/startups for eclipse. looks like it's checking on eclipse when it crashes?!

8/20/08 10:08:58 AM com.apple.launchd[262] ([0x0-0x43043].org.eclipse.eclipse[1515]) Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 12757 PPID 1 java 8/20/08 10:08:58 AM com.apple.launchd[262] ([0x0-0x43043].org.eclipse.eclipse[1515]) Stray process with PGID equal to this dead job: PID 1548 PPID 1 java 8/20/08 10:08:58 AM com.apple.launchd[262] ([0x0-0x43043].org.eclipse.eclipse[1515]) Exited with exit code: 143

i'll try clicking in the ".wod" editor before saving. i've had runs of 10-15 minutes without a crash before. i feel like i'm coding in some demented 'clockwork orange' environment with a negative feedback system. sometimes i crash by simply copying/pasting into my .html or .wod file. i don't know where to look for a solution to this issue.

even with these annoying out of the blue crashes, i'm growing fonder of WOLips everyday! thanks, thanks, thanks!!! i just wish eclipse would be stable...

i just wish WOBuilder had a better naming convention than Var1, Var2, Var3, etc... after 7 years of coding in WOBuilder on one project it's a mess wrangling through non-sensical variables and giving them meaning. i'm feeling more "intimate" with my WO project now...

Hi,

I've got the same issue except that I just crash 5 or 10 x a day. I installed wolips 2 months ago (for the holidays).

The "funny" side is that it seems it rather crashs at the beginng of the work-day.

To reduce the "crash" frequency, I click in the ".wod" editor before saving (why not ?)... and I update wolips every day.

I use eclipse 3.3.2 / wolips 3.3.539 (stable...) on macintosh intel and start it clicking on the icon ?

Jérémy

P.S. : except this problem, WOLIPS IS A GOT JOB and I don't remember why (except WOBuilder that has a really easier interface) it didn't make it earlier.

i've finally taken the leap and started my eclipse/WOLips development a couple months ago. things were going pretty smooth until last week when eclipse started crashing on me. first it was intermittent and now eclips will crash copying and pasting, editing and saving my html/wod file at least 20-30x day. this doesn't happen in the .java file. this only happens in the html/wod file and is starting to drive me crazy. i've removed all eclipse, wolips and project wonder files and frameworks and started from scratch a couple of times. this last attempt i removed everything and downloaded the packaged WOLips/Eclipse "All-In-One Turn-Key installer" but i'm still crashing...

log files?! where are the eclipse log or crash reporter files? i can't find them anywhere...
/Users/james/Library/Logs/CrashReporter/Eclipse.crash.log
/Users/james/Library/Logs/Eclipse.log
/System/Library/Logs/Eclipse.log

where do i enable the application logging or find the log file? this might help me determine what's going awry with eclipse.

Check for java_*.log in /Library/Logs/CrashReporter and ~// Library/Logs/CrashReporter, and in /var/log/system.log (check for "org.eclipse.eclipse" lines in system.log).

i've had 2 crashes in less than 5 minutes. both while saving my .html file.

the Console.app on leopard let's me search all logs

search for "java". nothing significant, just looks like my runtime vars 8/19/08 4:59:29 PM [0x0-0x2a02a].org.eclipse.eclipse[487] WOJavaLocalApplicationLaunchConfigurationDelegate .getProgramArguments: -DWOUserDirectory=/Users/james/ Documents/workspace/PWDA/build/PWDA.woa -EOAdaptorDebugEnabled false -NSProjectSearchPath ("..","../..") - WOAcceptMalformedCookies false -WOAdaptorURL http://127.0.0.1/cgi-bin/WebObjects -WOAdditionalAdaptors () -WOAllowRapidTurnaround true - WOAllowsCacheControlHeader true - WOAllowsConcurrentRequestHandling false - WOAutoOpenClientApplication true -WOAutoOpenInBrowser true - WOApplicationBaseURL /WebObjects -WOApplicationClassName com.webobjects.appserver.WOApplication -WOCachingEnabled false - WOContextClassName WOContext -WODebuggingEnabled true -WOAdaptor WODefaultAdaptor -WODefaultUndoStackLimit 10 - WODirectConnectEnabled true -WODisplayExceptionPages true -WOIDE WOLips -WOFrameworksBaseURL /WebObjects/Frameworks - WOGenerateWSDL true -WOIncludeCommentsInResponse false - WOLifebeatDestinationPort 1085 -WOLifebeatEnabled true - WOLifebeatInterval 30 -WOListenQueueSize 128 -WOMaxHeaders 200 - WOMaxIOBufferSize 8196 -WOMaxSocketIdleTime 180000 - WOMissingResourceSearchEnabled true -WOMonitorEnabled false - WOPort -1 -WOSessionTimeOut 3600 -WOSessionStoreClassName WOServerSessionStore -WOSMTPHost smtp -WOSocketCacheSize 100 - WOSocketMonitorSleepTime 50 -WOWorkerThreadCount 8 - WOWorkerThreadCountMin 16 -WOWorkerThreadCountMax 256

That looks odd. Are you launching Eclipse with launchd?
