I would say very soon, it's just a matter of allowing a suitable amount of time since the new hotness changes to wait for any resulting issues to be realised.
Stable is just the current nightly when it is decided, usually by mike if nobody protests, to draw an arbitrary line in the sand and make it so. If you want to move on from Eclipse 3.3 + stable to Eclipse 3.4 + new hotness then give nightly a try when you have the time, nightly is not changing much at the moment.
