All, I posted a comment a while back that some may find it easier to justify a trip to the upcoming JavaOne conference than WWDC. It is being held directly before WOWODC in SF. Like WWDC it's unlikely it will contain much, if any, WO related material. It will, however, have a wealth of Java related information on a variety of app servers, frameworks, IDE's, etc. In case anyone is interested, the early bird registration ends in a couple of days. They just sent me an email with 10 reasons one might decide to attend. See below...
BTW: Although it may sound like it, I'm not promoting JavaOne. I'll be attending WWDC. I just think the JavaOne timing and location could possibly help someone justify attending WOWODC this year. http://java.sun.com/javaone 10 MORE REASONS TO REGISTER If you register before April 22, you can take advantage of the Early Bird discount. But we all know it isn?t just about saving money - it's also about getting the value you need and expect. So here are 10 reasons why the JavaOneSM conference should be your must-attend conference of 2009 - discount or not. * Reason 1: Gain hands-on experience with Java[tm] technology as part of an amazing range of embedded devices you can carry, share, and drive. * Reason 2: Network with peers, and influence the future of the Java platform, including Java Platform, Standard Edition (Java SE platform), Java Development Kit 7, JavaFX[tm] technology, Java Platform, Micro Edition (Java ME platform), and more. * Reason 3: Find out what?s new on Java Platform, Enterprise Edition 6 (Java EE 6 platform) and the GlassFish[tm] v3 application server. * Reason 4: Learn how to use the MySQL[tm] database with the GlassFish application server. * Reason 5: Hear about lightweight and RESTful approaches to services. * Reason 6: See what?s new with contemporary integration in Project Fuji. * Reason 7: Learn about cloud services. * Reason 8: Sit down with Sun?s Java technology architects, and create applications and content together for the Java and JavaFX platforms. * Reason 9: Develop JavaFX Mobile applications, and run them on a cool new handset. * Reason 10: Build interactive content for TV that you can watch on that new big screen or Blu-ray player you?ve been wanting.
