        As usual Chuck, I think you hit the nail right on the head: when
I uncheck "Create Tables" in Entity Modeler, I get all the rest of the SQL just fine. Now the question is, how can I get the info I need to know which external types I have that are unacceptable in the "Create Tables" SQL?

In the Outline pane, select one Entity, right click, and select Generate SQL. With luck only a few of them will cause a problem. After that... trial and error.
