Does anyone have an idea of what I am missing?

Hey Jeffrey!

First, I would check Apache's configuration to see what it's timeout is by visiting this url
http://your.web.server.name/server-info?server
(You'd need to enable this in /etc/apache2/extra/httpd-info.conf and twiddle /etc/apache2/httpd.conf to load it.)

My development machine is showing:
Timeouts: connection: 300 keep-alive: 5

That could be where the 5 minute timeout is coming from.

Also, you should consider using a WOLongResponse page so that you can give the user feed back on your progress instead of making them wait 20 minutes without confirmation of what's happening... See /Developer/ Examples/JavaWebObjects/LongRequest

Good luck!
M.
