At a minimum, create a file called my.cnf in /etc , and add this text in the 
file:

[mysqld]
lower_case_table_names = 1
default-storage-engine = InnoDB

And restart MySQL. EOF will be more happy. The default table type in MySQL is 
MyISAM, which is fast but is not transactions safe (and it auto commit).
