AFAIK, the Apple dmg is the only one that installs the examples, documentation 
(in Developer dir), etc.? Might be useful for beginners.

I use woinstall.jar myself usually.

In any case, just pick whichever way you think is best, easiest for beginners, 
and works reliably.
