Ok,
Manually changing the JVM value in the classpath file of the app to 
"/System/Library/Frameworks/JavaVM.framework/Versions/1.6/Home/bin/java", 
instead of "java" worked. I'll try automating it as outlined in the full 
solution here: http://osdir.com/ml/webobjects-dev/2009-08/msg00355.html
