I feel kind of conflicted here.  Do I tell David and save him the struggle, do 
I watch in silent amusement?  Decisions, decisions...

There is no need for them to be in the manifest file.  You do need this in the 
Info.plist if they are not in a .wo directory:

<key>Has_WOComponents</key>
<string>true</string>
