OT, but FYI:

Apple was talking about the ZFS file system, but it never got included in the
OS. A open source version from old code is currently available.

Tomorrow a new free version from newer code will be downloadable:
http://www.getgreenbytes.com/zevo/

As more data is put on disks, and the HFS file systems can not detect some
forms of data corruption, solutions like ZFS become more important.

There are lots of features of ZFS, too many to list...but data corruption is a
fact of life.

I may do something like:
get a large disk with zfs, store/ backup all important things
get a second disk with zfs, plug it in, make it mirror the first disk,
when it has synced, take it offline, unplug it and store it somewhere
fireproof, safe.
        periodically repeat the sync.

If you switch to a windows or linux OS, the zfs disks still work on those
platforms as well.
