First, only a United Statesian would say “as the only American”. You forget that Canadians are Americans (from the continent of America), as well as Chileans are Americans (and Mexicans, and Brazilians). While living in Chile, I had to refer to my nationality as “Estados Unindese” or EEUU when written on forms. So it really isn’t just a nonce word.
Second, I am United Statesian from New Jersey and proud.
