Hi all,

The OGB reviewed the new About pages proposal this week, thanks to all
who helped provide feedback and updated content over the last month, I
appreciate your time to do so.

I've incorporated the last few changes from OGB and posted the draft
content here: http://stage.opensolaris.org/os. Please take a look at the
pages in the 'Overview' section of the left navigation bar and send
final comments by Friday. Any and all comments are welcome.

Because the proposed new About page is currently part of the 'splash
pages' that we published in May, implementation naturally opens a new
discussion of the splash pages. Derek and I talked about them yesterday
and we both agree that we should proceed as follows:

1-Remove the splash pages, so that when you go to opensolaris.org, you
see opensolaris.org/os.

2-Use the splash page content to update the About page as drafted at
the link above.

2.5-Replace the 'What is the OpenSolaris Project?' that currently
exists on the home page at opensolaris.org/os. So, instead of the
current 'What is the OpenSolaris Project?' section, we'll have the links
'Learn More', 'Find Help', 'Get the Source', and 'Participate' with the
same target content that currently lives on the splash pages.

3-Add a new callout box to the opensolaris.org/os home page that
links to http://opensolaris.com/get/index.html in the new Sun-sponsored
callout box area.

Let us know what you think of this overall strategy, or if you have
major concerns about it.

Thanks,
Michelle Olson
